WaterWorld at Ayia Napa is one of the most ambitious themed waterparks in the eastern Mediterranean — a 100,000 m² complex on the eastern outskirts of Ayia Napa with a thoroughgoing ancient-Greek theme. Statues of gods, mock-Hellenistic architecture, columned pavilions: the visual gimmick is sustained throughout, and the rides are named accordingly (the Fall of Icarus, Trojan Adventure, Drop to Atlantis, Apollo's Plunge).
The headline attractions are the Fall of Icarus (a near-vertical 35-metre drop slide for confident riders), Drop to Atlantis (a four-person family raft on a long winding chute), the Pegasus dive coaster, and the substantial wave pool with its hourly wave cycles. There is also a full lazy river circuit, a kids' Atlantis splash zone, multiple speed slides graded by intensity, the Cradle of Atlantis aqua-loop, and a quieter relaxation pool. More than 30 rides total. Restaurants run Greek-themed casual fast food at family prices.
Insider tips. Buy tickets online ahead — meaningful saving and a separate fast-track entry. Tuesday and Wednesday in shoulder season are markedly quieter; weekends and August are full. Lockers are extra (around 5 EUR with deposit). Bring your own towels (not provided). Some rides have height minimums (110 cm for the larger drops); plan with smaller children. Reusable water bottle saves real money — refill at fountains.
Combinations. Pair with a calm afternoon at Nissi Beach (10 minutes), Cape Greco Park (15 minutes for a different kind of nature day), or the Ayia Napa Sculpture Park as a quieter contrast. WaterWorld is itself a full day; do not try to combine it with another major attraction.
Bring. Reef-safe waterpark sunscreen, water shoes (the surfaces get hot), hat for queueing, refillable water bottle, swimsuit, towels, dry bag for valuables. When. Open roughly May to October. Late June and early September are the best balance of warm water, full rides, tolerable queues.
