Larnaca Marina sits at the southern end of the Foinikoudes promenade, where the old port basin opens onto Larnaca Bay. It is a smaller, slower, more workaday marina than Limassol's modern complex — a working harbour with around 450 berths, used by yachts and small leisure craft, a fishing fleet at the eastern edge, and a string of straightforwardly traditional fish tavernas along the quay. The fish caught in the morning is what is on the menu at lunch; the marina has not been re-themed for the visitor economy.
The yacht facilities are mid-range serviceable rather than luxurious; fees are notably lower than Limassol Marina, which makes Larnaca a popular winter base for live-aboards. Beyond the marina facilities themselves the visitor interest is the harbour-side restaurants — Skala Fish Tavern, Captain's, and several quieter family addresses on the side streets — and the daily life of a small Mediterranean port.
What to do. Walk along the quay at the southern end of Foinikoudes; eat fish at one of the harbour tavernas; catch a sunset cruise (several local operators offer 2-3 hour evening sails for around 40-60 EUR per person); visit the weekly Saturday morning farmers' market that sets up at the southern edge of the promenade. The marina is the natural southern terminus of the Foinikoudes evening walk.
Insider tips. Mid-week lunchtime is quietest. Saturday morning farmers' market (07:00-13:00 roughly) sells local olives, cheeses, halloumi, fresh fish, vegetables, and is genuinely worth a visit even if you are not buying. The marina is a reasonable jumping-off point for a boat day-charter; smaller skippered boats can be hired from around 250-400 EUR for the day. Parking is paid and limited at peak times.
Combinations. Combine with the full Foinikoudes promenade (the marina is its southern bookend), the Church of Saint Lazarus (5 minutes' walk inland), Larnaca Castle (10 minutes north along the seafront), and an evening at the Mackenzie Beach bars 1.5 km south.
Bring. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, a small cash float for the farmers' market, casual evening wear. When. Year-round. Saturday morning for the market; spring or autumn evenings for the harbour walk. Larnaca Marina is the slower, more honestly local face of Cypriot harbour life and the better choice if you prefer atmosphere over luxury.
